Classic barbecue sauce originating from Memphis, Tennessee.

Pit Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1 pint ketchup
  • 1 pint white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon onion juice
  • 1 1/2 cloves garlic pressed with a garlic press
  • Dash cayenne pepper
  • Dash black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to a large saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Taste, and add more salt if necessary.
  4. Serve.
  5. Store in refrigerator up to a week.
